Every year, one of Switzerland’s most glamorous balls is given under the patronage of the Friends of the Zurich Opera: the Zurich Opera Ball. For the third time in a row, the House of Gübelin is proud to be the official jewellery sponsor of this highly prestigious event. To reminisce about this year's elegant ball, Gübelin has invited esteemed guests to follow-up events in the beautiful mirror hall of the Zurich Opera House on the 7th and 28th of May 2019.

The participants enjoyed a delightful apéro riche and relished the opportunity to learn about divine coloured gemstones at the same time. Held by Helen Molesworth, Managing Director of the Gübelin Academy and Jannine Matthys, Boutique Manager Zurich, our guests were treated to an introduction into the history of and mysteries behind emeralds, sapphires and rubies.

The Gemstone
After the presentation, our guests enjoyed the opportunity to explore the divine gems and first-hand and discover their inner worlds for themselves. A microscope session was held to allow the participants a glance into the mysterious depths of handpicked coloured gemstones.
The Gübelin
Academy
The Gübelin Academy offers modular fast-track coloured gemstone classes for people in the industry and passionate amateurs alike. The courses, which take place in Zurich, Lucerne, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing are designed to teach about gems, their historical and cultural value as well as the science behind the stones.
