The inventor of the modern chronograph
Founded in 1884 in the Swiss Jura, Léon Breitling devoted himself to the development of the wrist chronograph. To this day, Breitling is a great master of this complication and one of the last remaining independent and family-owned Swiss watch brands.
Thanks to its high-quality entirely Swiss made products and constant quest for innovation, the brand accompanied the boom of competitive sports, of the automobile, as well as the first feats of the aviation pioneers.
A leader in the field of mechanical chronographs, Breitling is also in the forefront of electronics in watchmaking. The brand has indeed established itself in the vanguard of innovation by creating the Emergency, the world’s first wristwatch equipped with an authentic integrated dual frequency personal locator beacon as well as the Exospace B55, the instrument of the future, designed for aviation professionals.
Breitling asserts itself as a compendium of boldness, innovation and performance designed to share every challenge – on land, at sea and in the air. “You simply don’t become official supplier to world aviation by chance”.
This chronograph unique in its kind and featuring an ultra-technical, original yet elegant design established itself as the most iconic Breitling model and a cult object for all passionate aeronautical enthusiasts.
The Emergency is a high-tech gem equipped with a dual frequency transmitter compliant with the specifications of the Cospas-Sarsat international satellite alert system and serving both to issue alerts and to guide search and rescue missions.
Inspired by a model from the 1950s and 60s, an era when Breitling was already an “official supplier to world aviation”, the new Chronoliner continues this tradition in a resolutely modern spirit.

Transocean Chronograph 1915
One century ago, Breitling created the first independent chronograph pushpiece at 2 o’clock. To celebrate this milestone invention that was to change the face of the chronograph, the brand is introducing a limited series of its Transocean model, with an exclusive new Manufacture Breitling caliber and an unusual design reinterpreting the famous 1915 pushpiece.
Since launching the Superocean in 1957, Breitling has consistently optimized it on both technical and functional levels – the goal being to accompany professional and military divers, as well as recreational diving enthusiasts in their underwater adventures around the world.
